Why the sign depends on Saju and not on January 1

In Saju the year does not change on January 1 or at Lunar New Year, but at Lichun (立春), the "start of spring", around February 4. That is why anyone born in January or in the first days of February belongs, in Saju, to the previous year. Each page shows the exact date and time that year begins.

Animal and element
